Sir J J Institute of Applied Art has been affiliated to the University of Mumbai as a college for teaching the B.F.A. (Applied Art), degree Course as prescribed by the University of Mumbai. All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi too has accorded its approval for conducting B.F.A. in Applied Art, Degree Course at this Institute. The average tuition fees are 3000 INR and the most attractive features are well-equipped illustration studio, photography studio, Print-shop with 4 printing machines and a complete infra-structure of Silk Screen Printing Studio, Block-making and Processing Unit and a Typesetting section etc.
 
Rabindranath Tagore conceived the idea of Visva-Bharati University as a centre for coordinated study of the different arts and cultures. Admissions are done on the basis of VBCAT. The Kala Bhavana (Institute of Fine Arts) is arguably one of the most well-known of the departments; it boasts an extremely well-known faculty and student body. It is most famous for the spread of Bengal School of Art. Luminaries such as Abanindranath Tagore, Gaganendranath Tagore, Nandalal Bose, Binode Bihari Mukherjee, Ramkinkar Baij, Dinkar Kaushik, K.G. Subramanyan, A. Ramachandran and R. Siva Kumar have either taught or been students here.
 
Rabindra Bharati University offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Performing Arts and Visual Arts under the Faculty of Fine Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences and other subjects under the Faculty of Arts. The vast range of courses includes Certificate courses, Diploma courses, Undergraduate Degree Courses, Postgraduate Degree Courses and Research/Doctoral-Level Courses. The average tuition fees are 7000 INR and many scholarships are also available. 
 
College of Art, University of Delhi, Delhi was established in 1942 for advanced training in Visual Art (Creative and Applied) leading to the Bachelor of Fine Art Degree of the University of Delhi, further providing advance training in Master in Fine Art course (except Art History) in Applied Art, Art History, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture and, Visual Communication with emphasis on studio practical, prescribed theory subjects and research in selected fields. The College is under the Faculty of Music & Fine Art, University of Delhi, for all academic matters and wholly administrated by the Govt. of NCT of Delhi.
 
National Institute of Design (NID), Gujarat, is recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research under Ministry of Science and Technology as an organisation for research in scientific and industrial design. All applicants fulfilling the requirements of minimum qualification and falling within the prescribed age limit are called for the Design Aptitude Test (GDPD & PGDPD) that is conducted at various centres.
