Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, Manipal University

Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration was established as a unit of the Dr TMA Pai Foundation. In 1987, the foundation joined hands with Welcomgroup, the hotel division of ITC Ltd. to set up the WGSHA institute.The training and development program of WGSHA is recognised by the International Hotel Association, Paris. It is a constituent college of Manipal Academy of Higher Education since July 2003.The college has been securing a majority of the top university rankings over the years and its alumni have found positions in leading hotel chains, airlines, travel agencies and other organisations like Citibank, Blue Dart Couriers, GE Capital and International Services.WGSHA has been consistently ranked as the No. 1 institute in the country for hotel management studies.

Labs
The college has three lab kitchens and a bakery that are carefully designed to meet the specialised training needs of the students. The computer lab at the college has more than 30 personal computers with the latest configurations. The college’s Front Office Training Lab is used for training students in all operational aspects of the Front Office. This includes room reservation, registration, guest relations, cashiering, guest accounting, revenue management, etc.
Library
The college library is well equipped with more than 5,500 books on Hotel Management and allied subjects. It subscribes to over 40 journals from all over the world. A large section for general reading is also available. The library covers around 2000 square feet area and can be occupied by 80 people at a time. It also has a collection of over 190 videocassettes on a variety of topics. Four internet terminals and an audio-video section are also present. The library also subscribes to an online database called EBSCO Hospitality and Tourism Complete.
Hostel Details
Separate hostel facilities are provided for boys and girls. The hostel has air-conditioned single rooms and double sharing rooms. Non air-conditioned single and double rooms with attached bath are also present. Mess facility is provided at the hostels. In addition, the hostels have a TV room, filtered drinking water, indoor games facility, reading room, Wi-Fi connectivity, internet café, washing machines, gymnasium, recreation room and volleyball and basketball courts. A general sundry store is also present at the hostel.
Placement
proactive in placing the students into positions of their preference. The institute has a well-organised placement team headed by the Associate Director (Industrial Liaison, Placements and Practice School) and comprising of faculty and student coordinators from each department. On an average, over 60 companies visit MIT Manipal for campus recruitments every year.

Hands-on experience in all departments of hospitality, like cuisine, housekeeping, front-office management and other facets gives WGSHA graduates a clear winning edge.
