College Profile

The University is at the heart of Portsmouth and we have a strong commitment to our regional community, and particularly to the city, embedded in our strategy. This commitment is longstanding, at least since the opening of the Municipal College in 1908. Our economic, social and cultural contributions range from being one of the largest employers in the city, to the value our highly skilled graduates add in professional roles in our schools, health and justice services, businesses, local authorities and charities. Some contributions have a measurable economic impact: we have invested over £180 million in buildings and resources in the last decade and our 25,000+ students study, live and spend in the city.We meet more than 11,000 local pupils and..  more »

If you are applying to more than one university in the UK, we advise undergraduate applicants to apply via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). The UCAS website contains advice and step-by-step guidance through their online application process, giving clear details on either applying to just one choice or to more than one university or college.

If you are applying to the University of Portsmouth ONLY, you can apply directly to the University using our online application form.

Your level of English must be sufficient for you to study your chosen course, contribute to classes and pass assignments and examinations. As a general guide, we require IELTS 5.5 for foundation, 6.0 for undergraduate and 6.0 to 7.0 for postgraduate entry. Specific scores required depend on the course you choose. Please see English language requirements for study at Portsmouth for more information.
