The University of Leeds was founded in 1904, but its origins go back to the nineteenth century with the founding of the Leeds School of Medicine in 1831 and then the Yorkshire College of Science in 1874.In 1831 a group of young men established the Leeds School of Medicine which meant that medical students no longer had to go to Scotland, London or overseas to study. Admission Criteria & Eligibility

Acceptable minimum qualifications include:
  1. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) an overall band of 6.0 with no less than 5.5 in each component skill
  2. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) of 87 (with no less than 20 in listening, 20 in reading, 22 in speaking and 21 in writing)
  3.  Pearson (Academic) of 60 overall with no less than 56 in any component
  4.  Cambridge Advanced English (CAE) of 169 overall with no less than 162 in any component
  5.  Trinity College Integrated Skills in English of a Pass in ISE II or above (if taken in the UK)
For all courses applicants must have a minimum acceptable level of literacy (typically grade C or above in GCSE English or its equivalent) and numeracy (which varies from course to course).The typical minimum entry requirement for admission to an undergraduate degree programme at the University of Leeds is a pass in a combination of five subjects in GCSE/GCE A-Level examinations including:
  1. at least grade A* to C/ 9-4 in English at GCSE or its equivalent, and
  2. at least two subjects at grade A*-E in GCE A-level examinations or their equivalent
