University College of Law, Osmania University

University College of Law, Osmania University is located in Osmania University campus, Hyderabad. The college was set up in 1954.  It offers only one course as of now, and around 48 trust based and non-college scholarships.  The college is known for imparting Law studies.  Although, the university conducts entrance examinations which are held for certain courses, certain schools like the Law College admit students on the basis of marks in 10+2.In 1942, LL.M. course was introduced with Comparative Jurisprudence and Comparative Constitutional Law as compulsory subjects with an option to choose either International Law or Conflict of Laws and Muslim Law or Hindu Law. Students of LL.M. had to submit thesis on a subject studied by them in LL.B. and LL.M. In view of heavy demand for admission to Law course, the Law Department of the Arts College has been elevated into a full-fledged Law College in the year 1950 and shifted to Saifabad Science College in the city. The Law College used to function in the even from 6.00 to 8.30 p.m. and the medium of instruction was changed to English. In 1954 the college was shifted from Saifabad Science College of Chadarghat College building situated at Tilak Road, Hyderabad. Due to lack of accommodation, a morning session in 1956 was started in the same building for the convenience of the students.

Campus

Infrastructure
The college is located within the huge campus of Osmania Univeristy, which is spread over 1600 acres.  The university campus contains about a dozen colleges, numerous hostel blocks, staff quarters; all situated amongst lush greenery.  Though the architecture is of the Nizam’s era, the facilities are updated regularly to ensure a good mix of old architectural beauty and modern technology.  The campus provides hostel facilities to students at a meagre 10,000 per year.
People
The College of Law is among the top law colleges in the state.  A good number of talented youngsters take admission here. Though, most of the seats are reserved for Andhra Pradesh students (60% for Telangana region, 30% for rest of the state), there are few seats which have been termed "Unreserved" and are filled in by students from all over the country and even international students.
Hangouts
The University's central location makes it a decent place with many eateries, movie theatres and ice cream parlours. Himayat Nagar is a 15-minute drive where there are famous eateries like Dadu's, Chutneys, Pizza Corner, KFC, Domino's, McDonald's, Subway, Cafe Coffee Day and other such food joints are available. Students can also stroll over to Hussain Sagar, or Tank bund.  Even the campus itself is a popular hangout for students, with its lush green environment providing respite from the sweltering Hyderabad heat.
Placement

The College has established a Placement Cell and appointed a placement officer who shall take care of all the placements. Till now more than students have been placed in various firms such as law firms, LPO’s, BPO’s and Senior High Court Advocates Offices.


Facilities
Library:
The Library of the Law is one of the best law libraries in the entire South India having a good collection of law journals, text books, reports, commentaries and theses. All the leading journals like the All India Reporter, Supreme Court Cases, Journal of Indian Law Institute and Indian Bar Review are subscribed regularly in the library. Foreign Journals like All England Reports, Cambridge Law Journal, Harvard Law Review and Modern Law Review are subscribed in the Main Library of the University.  
Moot Court Hall:
The college has a moot court hall essential for training the student mooters. It has all the required facilities that are available in a court of law. About 50 students can witness the moot court proceedings at a time.
Career & Guidance:

Sports:
The College is situated in Campus and do not possess independent playground. Moreover facilities for various outdoor games like Cricket, Volleyball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Basket Ball, Athletics etc. are provided at the University playgrounds. College students have shown keen interest in sports and have represented University and the State in different tournaments. The college also provides for indoor games like table tennis, carom and chess.
