The University of Arizona

The University of Arizona was established in 1885 and is the first research university in the Arizona Territory in the USA. The university was founded in 1885 by an act of the territorial legislature as a land-grant college, making it the first university in Arizona. In 1891, the university opened its doors, and by 1915, it had three colleges: letters, arts and sciences; mining and engineering; and agriculture. The university is also affiliated with the Association of American Universities, the Universities Research Association and National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. The university is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very High Research Activity". The University of Arizona is one of three universities that are under the governance of the Arizona Board of Regents. As per QS World University Rankings 2023, Arizona is ranked #262 in the world and according to THE World University Rankings, the university is placed at #150. Furthermore, U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings has placed it at #99 globally, and the Center for World University Rankings 2022 places UArizona in the top 0.5% of universities worldwide.
