Symbiosis Institute of Design

Symbiosis Institute of Design or SID is affiliated to Symbiosis International University (SIU). SID is located in Viman Nagar, Pune.  The college offers around 4 undergraduate courses, and close to 48 trust based and non-college scholarships.  It has the recognition of being named as one of the biggest design institutes in India.  Admission to SID is through the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET), followed by a personal interview.SID is one of the largest design institutes in the country having built up area more than 80,000 sq.ft. The campus of Symbiosis Institute of Design at Viman Nagar houses state of the art design studios, laboratories, workshops, IT infrastructure, rapid prototyping lab, well-equipped class rooms, library, exhibition areas, seminar hall, conference hall etc.The campus also has amphitheater, ultra-modern auditorium and academic plaza for various activities including design shows. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled.

Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) is the 14th best college to study fashion and design, according to India Today’s Poll on best colleges for Fashion and Design in 2017 and Ranked 7th In the Year of 2016.  The poll is a recent venture and thus no rating can be accurately predicted prior to 2012.  The college is not easy to get into as it among the upper echelon of colleges and one has to clear the SET to be able to study at SID.
Infrastructure
Most basic amenities and facilities are available at SID. Though, the library is a bit small, this is compensated by the big reading room. Students have been known to complain about the lack of many important books in the library. The campus and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled.  The hostels also boast of state-of-the-art facilities. The canteen is also quite huge, and has a huge LCD TV for students.
Placement
Symbiosis Institute of Design has a Placement cell. This cell facilitates as a body to coordinate between the industry and the students. Pre-placement as well as placement work is arranged for the eligible students through this cell.So far the institute has facilitated the students to get placements in companies like Infosys, Autoline Industries Ltd, Cognizant, Whirlpool, Mudra Communications etc. Students have also been absorbed by Small and Medium scale enterprises like Elephant Design, Fitch Design, Onio Design, Leaf Design and several design companies as following.
