Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology, Mumbai

Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology is one of the ISO 9001:2000 Certified premier educational institutions, established under Manjara Charitable Trust in 1992, providing high quality engineering and management education in Mumbai. It is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and approved by All India Council for Technical Education (A.I.C.T.E.), New Delhi. The institute has been awarded “A” grade by the Govt. of Maharashtra.

At its inception, in 1992, the institute started three undergraduate programmes namely, Bachelors in Electronics and Telecommunication Engg., Instrumentation Engg. and Mechanical Engg. With an intake of 60 students each. In 1995-96, the institute introduced Bachelors in Computer Engg. Programme with an intake of 60 students. The institute was renamed as Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology in the memory of the great son of land, Shri Rajiv Gandhi in the year 1998. In November 2001, the college shifted to the permanent campus at Survey No.161 & CTS No.1376/1/48, Juhu-Versova Link Road, Andheri (W), Mumbai-400 053. It is built on more than 5 acres of land covering 16500 sq m of actual built up area along side the green and luxurious Versova beach

Manjara Charitable Trust's Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (RGIT) is located near 7 bunglows, Versova. The nearest railway station is Andheri (W.Rly. & Harbour Rly.). There are many  BEST buses available from station for those who do not want to take a rickshaw everyday. The rickshaw ride might empty your pocket by a huge sum. The college does not have a very accessible location especially for those who travel by train.
library
The main functions of library are the collection and preservation of knowledge for its dissemination for all. Its conservation for future generation is also an important duty of library. Reference section is open access to user and books are classified by Dewey Decimal classification with 21st edition. Central Library fully computerized with SOUL 2.0. Library also member of IIT, Bombay, Powai, they provide library facility to staff as well as student. Staff and Student can issue books, library material from IIT Central Library with limited period.
Placement Company
The Training and Placement cell ensures the future of RGIT students in the dynamic & vibrant professional job market. This cell sees to it that the efforts of the students throughout the course bear fruits at the end. The training and placement cell is headed by Training and Placement Officer for the college who is on high alert, seeking opportunities for the students whenever and however they come. Around 40 companies are regularly recruiting our engineering students every year.
