Pt. Lalit Mohan Sharma Government Post-Graduate College, Rishikesh, the first autonomous college of Uttarakhand, affiliated to the HNB Garhwal University, is one of the best academic institutions of the newly created Uttarakhand State. It was started by the state Government of undivided Uttar Pradesh in July 1973 and is spread over 49 acres. It is one of the institutions catering to the academic need of western part of Uttarakhand.

Location Information
The College is surrounded by picturesque foot hills of the Great Himalayas. Rishikesh, the city in which the College is situated is the place of Sages and is the famous spiritual town on the right bank of the holy river Ganga. The legend of Uttarakhand begins from Rishikesh. The city is Gateway to Char-Dham Yatra, Sikh shrine Hemkund sahib and the Valley of Flowers.
Library Facilities
Govt. P.G. College Rishikesh  had a well equipied Library for all Graduate, post Graduate and other professional courses. One great philosopher has rightly said “Knowledge is the key to success”. Nothing can be better than books as a source of knowledge. It has been an established fact that any kind of education is empty in itself without the availability of books. To fulfill such a  need in higher education structure what better than the library with a vast collection of the books and other related literature can serve the purpose. Library has a sufficient collection of books covering the entire spectrum of course. Enriching the library is an on going process which requires financial assistance that is provided by state government annually.  Books and other printed material can be obtained from library under different schemes for a definite period.
