Motilal Nehru National Institute Of Technology (MNNIT Allahabad)

Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology is also known as MNNIT or NIT Allahabad. It was formerly known as Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College (MNREC). It is located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The college offers around nine undergraduate courses and its student body comprises of more than 3000 students. The college was established in 1961 as a joint enterprise of Government of India and Government of Uttar Pradesh. Its foundation stone was laid by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India.

Admission into the college is through the all India common entrance examination – JEE. The test is conducted in April and results are declared in May. Classes begin in July. The college is recognised by Government of India as a centre for the Quality Improvement Programme for M. Tech. and Ph. D. A survey by ET Now-Economic Times declared MNNIT as the best engineering institution of North India in 2013.

Campus

Campus and Hostel
The campus spans more than 222 acres of land on the bank of the river Ganges. It is a fully residential institution and has seven hostels for boys and one for girls. It has one hostel exclusively for postgraduate students. The boarding capacity of the boys’ hostel is 1800 (with 1044 single seated rooms and 252 quadruple seated rooms). The capacity of the girls’ hostel is 145. The hostels are provided with facilities such as refrigerators, washing machines, computers and internet connectivity. The girl’s hostel also has a PCO booth.
Central Library
The college has a central library with a collection of 1, 04,382 books and bound periodicals. It subscribes to more than 50 Indian and more than 200 International technical periodicals. The library follows an open access system to enable students to browse books at their leisure. The reading materials are classified and catalogued according to Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules-II and Dewey Decimal Classification.
Placements
Training and Placement Office(TPO), MNNIT
Training and Placement Office(TPO), MNNIT Allahabad is responsible for conducting all recruitment related activities of the institute. The integral part of the TPO is a team of student coordinators from all courses of the college who work tirelessly to ensure that top notch opportunities are brought to the students & manages all interactions between the visiting companies and the college. It works round the clock to improve the placements and internships statistics of the college. TPO,MNNIT assures the best facilties and support possible to the recruiting companies. 
Career Awareness Program
MNNIT regularly organizes career awareness programs and interactions for final as well as pre-final year students with respective branch mentors and student placement coordinators. These interactions ensure that the students are regularly motivated and their potential is properly channelized into the right directions.

Thus providing every student, a realistic view of their goals. Due to these efforts, our students not only go for good regular jobs but also for higher education, entrepreneurship and civil services, all according to their potential.
Entrepreneurship Cell
E-Cell MNNIT, founded September 2014, has greatly catalyzed the process. It is responsible for institutionalizing informal clubs like Computer Club, Information Security Club, Web Development Society, SAE Club, CAD Club and Robotics Club. It organizes regular workshops of these clubs and contributes greatly towards the skill development.
Communication Skills Development Society (CSDS)
Communication Skill is perhaps the most neglected part of the academic life of most technocrats. Keeping that in mind, MNNIT constituted CSDS to improve the communication skills of the students. Understanding that communication skill development is continual, the society functions amongst all years. Spearheaded by the Training and Placement Department, the society conducts different activities like JAMs, Debates, Mock Parliament, Mock Interviews, GDs and other activities to help students improve the communication skills of the students. The CSDS has more than 40 members in every batch to ensure the successful conduct of the activities.
