McMaster University

Founded in 1887, McMaster University is one of only five Canadian universities (and one of only two in Ontario) consistently ranked among the top 100 in the world by the major global ranking systems.

A medical-doctoral, research-intensive university, McMaster is dedicated to teaching, learning and service. In the 1960s, we pioneered the problem-based approach to learning that came to be known around the world as "the McMaster model".

Home to more than 70 research centres and institutes, McMaster is comprised of six faculties: The DeGroote School of Business, and the Faculties of Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities, Science, and Social Sciences.

With a total full-time student population of more than 31,000, McMaster welcomes students from 107 countries as well as Canada. The percentage of undergraduates registering with an admission average of 90 per cent and above has risen from 13.5 per cent in 2000 to 35.84 per cent in 2016.

Admission Criteria & Eligibility

All India Senior School Certificate awarded by CBSE / Indian School Certificate awarded by CISCE. Year 12 State Board Exams with excellent results will also be considered individually.

English Language Test Minimum Acceptable Score
 IELTS - International English Language Testing System (Academic)  6.5 Overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening); results valid for 2 years
 CAE - Cambridge English: Advanced  176 Overall with minimum score of 154 in each component; valid for 2 years
 PTE - Pearson Test of English Academic  60 Overall with minimum score of 60 in Writing and Speaking; valid for 2 years
 MELAB - Michigan English Language Assessment Battery  85 Overall valid for 2 years
Minimum 80 in each of the three required components
Minimum 3 in optional speaking component (Required)
 CAEL - Canadian Academic English Language  70 Overall with no component score below 60; valid for 2 years
 TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language  IBT: 86 Overall with a minimum score of 20 in each of the four components (Reading, Writing, Speaking, Listening); valid for 2 years
