London School Of Economics & Political Science

LSE first opened its doors in 1895 in three rooms in 9 John Adam Street, close to the Strand, London. By October 1895, 200 students had enrolled for courses and in 1896 the School moved to larger premises at 10 Adelphi Terrace.LSE was the brain child of Sidney Webb (1859-1947) supported by his wife, the social investigator Beatrice Webb (1858-1943), the political scientist Graham Wallas (1858-1932) and the writer G Bernard Shaw (1856-1950). All four were members of the Fabian Society. An economic historian, William Hewins (1865-1931) was appointed the first Director.

Admission Criteria & Eligibility

Equivalent in Indian Higher Secondary School Certificate/Standard 12 (from the CBSE - including the All India Senior School Certificate Examination - and CISCE boards only)

A*AA, AAA : An overall average of 90 per cent across five subjects
AAB : An overall average of 85 per cent across five subjects

Mathematics A*/A : A mark of 90 per cent Mathematics
Cambridge Advanced Certificate of English (CAE) : Grade B or better or 185 points overall and  a minimum of 185 points in each individual component.
Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) : Grade C or better or 185 points overall and a minimum of 185 points in each individual component.
International Baccalaureate (English A + Literature/ English A + Language & Literature) : Any grade at Higher Level or at least 6 at Standard Level.
IGCSE English Language (first language) CIE Board : Grade B or better, plus grade 2 in the optional speaking test.
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic  : A score of 65 in all four components (in one exam sitting only).
TOEFL IBT (Internet based test) : At least 107 overall with a minimum of 25 in each of the four components (in one exam sitting only).
