JNTU College of Engineering, Kakinada

JNTU College of Engineering or Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, College of Engineering, Kakinada, is located in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The college offers around 6 undergraduate courses. It was established in 1946 as the College of Engineering, Vizagpatnam. It became a constituent of the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University along with other institutions through an act of legislature under the control of the Government of Andhra Pradesh. It was earlier affiliated to Andhra University and was conferred an autonomous status in 2003. Admission into the college is on the basis of marks obtained in secondary education. Selection is done according to ranks obtained in EAMCET. The test is conducted in May and results are out by June. The classes start in July.

Campus

Campus
The college campus is spread across an area of 110 acres. It has vast areas of greenery with mango trees. The campus also has branches of the State Bank of India and the Postal Department. Medical facilities are provided to students through a dispensary with a medical officer deputed by the Government. The college has a student amenities centre that manages facilities like STD booth, Internet Centre, Photocopy Centre, fancy and bookstore. The college also has a large auditorium along with an open air theatre. More than 300 girls and 400 boys are accommodated in separate hostels.
Library
The central library at JNTU College of Engineering, Kakinada was set up in 1946. The main library is housed in a separate block. It has around 54,000 volumes and 12 journals in addition to a book-bank comprising of over 3000 volumes. The book bank lends books to needy students. The library is maintained by two librarians along with supporting staff. The college also has separate departmental libraries.
