Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata

The Kolkata campus of the Indian Statistical Institute is located in a sprawling 30-acre estate on the Barrackpore Trunk Road (B.T. Road) in the Baranagore suburb of Greater Kolkata. It consists of two approximately equal parts - the office complex and the residential complex, - separated by a public road. This road (Girish Chand Ghosh Street) connects B.T. Road with Gopal Lal Tagore Road, a road which runs along the western boundary of the main campus. The office complex bears door numbers 202, 203 and 204, and the residential complex, 205 and 206. There is no connection between the two parts of the campus; to move between the residential and office complexes, one has to come out on B.T. Road and enter the other campus. There is also a narrow public road that separates 202 and 203 B.T. Road. There is however, a direct connection between these two premises.

Library
The Central Library of ISI is located at Kolkata with a network extending to other locations of the Institute.Over the years, the library has attained the distinction of being one of the richest libraries of the country,  particularly
in the field of Statistics and related disciplines. The Central Library at Kolkata has over 2,00,000 volumes of books and journals besides many official  reports, reprints,maps, microfilms and microfiches. It receives about one thousand scientific and technical journals annually. The Library has acquired data bases on CD-ROM and further computerisation of the library facilities is in progress. The library has developed a separate collection

Placement

1st year students of different courses are available for internships during their summer break which generally starts after completion of their 2nd semester examination (around 10th of May) and continues till their third semesters begins. The duration of the internship varies from course to course as follows.      Process: For all courses, interested companies are requested to send the duly filled in summer internship form (SIF) by email to plccom@isical.ac.in. The companies can visit the campus and interview students for internship, or have telephonic interviews for summer internships. Based on the interest of the students, a mutually convenient date for the visit will be fixed. The student representatives and the placement convener will be in touch with you for finalizing the dates. We would strongly recommend avoiding weekdays for the visits in order to ensure no conflict with the classes.
