Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad)

The Indian Institute of Technology (Hyderabad) also known as IITH is a public university located in Medak district of Andhra Pradesh. It was established in 2008 and is affiliated to the Indian Institute of Technology. There are approximately 140 seats available for admission at the undergraduate level.  The institute offers around 6 undergraduate courses in Engineering & Technology.

Each year, admission to the undergraduate programmes is through the JEE entrance exam, which is conducted in the month of April. The results for the same are declared in May. The students who clear the JEE main exam must then appear for the JEE advanced which is conducted in the month of June. Results are declared in July and classes commence from August onwards.

Campus

Location Information
IIT Hyderabad is located in the residential estate of Ordnance Factory Medak (OFMK) of Ordnance Factories Board at Eddumailaram (Medak District, Andhra Pradesh). It is about 45 km from the city of Hyderabad. Buses ply between the nearest bus station at Patancheru and the ODF campus at regular interval. From Patancheru, buses are available to every part of Hyderabad. Regular bus service between hostels and academic campuses is provided by the institute. Since the distance between the hostels and academic campus is only 3 kms, many students own bicycles and travel using the same.
Hostel
The boys' hostel has a TV room, a table-tennis room and a game room where students usually are seen playing carrom, chess and other indoor games. There is also a computer room and a reading room. There is a small store located in the Dining Hall where one can buy cold drinks, chips, and other snacks. There is also a stationery store besides the student activities coordinator (SAC) room. The SAC room is where students can go if they need to sort out any personal or other issues or just talking about any ideas for activities. The girls' hostel also has a TV and a computer for use by the girls.
Faculty
IIT Hyderabad has hired highly qualified and experienced faculty. About 83 faculty members belonging to science and engineering departments of the Institute are engaged in teaching, research and industrial consultancy. The faculty of this institute is considered to be one of the best in the industry. Many faculty members have studied from the top colleges in India and abroad.
Placement Company
The placements at Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad for the academic year 2015 - 2016 have yielded 268 offers for 422 registered students. A total of 143 companies had registered for the placement process. Out of them, 92 have made it to the campus and interacted with the students of B.Tech., M.Tech., M.Des., and M.Sc. across 14 departments. During this year new companies have made their entry to IITH. Some of the new recruiters are Murata Electronics, Hikari Tsushin, VE Commercial Vehicles, Vedanta, Coal India, Wellsfargo, Blue Star and Tata Advanced Systems. The top paying companies were Yahoo Japan, Hikari Tsushin and Paypal. The highest salary offered for this year is Rs.35 LPA and the average salary is Rs.11 LPA. There were seven international offers. A good number of students from UG, PG and M.Sc. have opted for higher education in India and abroad. Facilities
Library:
IITH has a well equipped library with more than 20,000 books and 10,000 periodicals. The books include reference books as well as the ones for regular circulation. IITH also has an internal repository of scholarly publications made by its faculty and students. 
Transport:
IITH has limited transport facility for its students, staff and faculty. There are regular services from the nearest railway station Lingampally to the campus and back. The schedule of services can be found here. 
Laboratories:
IITH has more than 100 research labs. Every year IITH is in the pursuit of adding more and more state of the art equipments in these labs for performing advanced research that cuts across the boundaries of various engineering and science departments and there by promoting interdisciplinary research.
Dining:
IITH as a common dining facility for its students, staff, and faculty. Both north Indian and south Indian varieties are served in the dining hall. The quality of food is regularly inspected by the student representatives and the wardens.
