Homoeopathic Medical College, Pune (BVDU)

Bharati Vidyapeeth's Homoeopathic Medical College was established in 1990 and is located in Pune. It is affiliated to Bharati Vidyapeeth University. The college offers an undergraduate programme in Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery (B.H.M.S.). A total of around 100 students are taken in for this course.

Selection to the undergraduate course is on the basis of the merit obtained in the All India Common Entrance Test (CET) which is conducted by the Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University. Classes commence from July onwards.

Location and Infrastructure
The Homoeopathic Medical College is located in Dhankawadi campus in a well designed building. The college building accommodates well-equipped laboratories, dissection halls, spacious demonstration halls and a library with a reading hall facility.

The college has 5 departments, 8 classrooms, 4 laboratories, 4 museums and a dissection hall. The departments have a large number of specimens, charts, instruments and equipments. The college maintains a herbal garden which has more than 400 medicinal plants, some of which are rare species.
Campus InfrastructureLibrary
The college has a spacious, well equipped state of art library with a vast collection of 9,942 books. Many new as well as rare homoeopathic books, journals and books of allied subjects are available in the library. It is spread over an area of 3200 sq.ft. There is also a separate library of 400 sq.ft. available for postgraduate students in the homoeopathic hospital. Every department has its own departmental library as well.

Students have open access to the library. Support facilities like computers, internet, bibliography compilation, separate reading room, book volumes of journals, audio-visual material like CDs and audio cassettes are also available in the library. Reprographic facilities are available in campus as a shared facility. Both the library and the hospital have an internet center that is utilised by students and staff during the college timings. The reading room is open for students till 7.00 pm.
Facilities
Facilities of indoor & outdoor games are available for the students in the college. Students are encouraged to participate in various cultural events and competitions organised at different levels. The college has a National service scheme unit with 150 volunteers. It organises regular activities as well as winter camps to convey the message of ‘Unity in Diversity’ in health & rural development.
Hostel
The college has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The hostel has a common auditorium, play-ground, canteens and gymnasiums.
