Drexel University

Drexel University (DU) is a private research university with the main campus located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1891 it offers 70 full-time undergraduate programs and accelerated degrees. At the graduate level, the university offers 100 masters, doctoral, and professional programs, many available part-time. Drexel University is also known for creating the world's first Engineering Degree in Appropriate Technology. Drexel Co-op provides professional employment experiences for students, giving them the opportunity to test-drive a career before they enter the workforce. The benefits are obvious—during their time at Drexel, students can participate in up to three different co-ops, which equals 18 months of professional work. A Drexel Co-op experience connects them with industry leaders and brings their cooperative education experiences back into the classroom. Because of this, Drexel students graduate having already built a professional network, and they typically receive higher starting salaries than their counterparts from other schools.- Connect with Drexel University on Univariety today.

Admission Criteria & Eligibility

Additional Testing Requirements for Non-Native English Speakers:
International applicants whose first (or native) language is not English and have not completed a minimum of 3 years of instruction in English must take the TOEFL, IELTS or PTE (Pearsons) and request that results be forwarded to the Admissions Office. Additionally, permanent residents whose first language is not English may be requested to submit official TOEFL, IELTS or PTE scores. Drexel's TOEFL school code is 2194. Exemptions may occur for the following reasons:

  1. Your first (or native) language is English.
  2. You have studied at a high school for a minimum of three years where English is the primary language of instruction. We strongly recommend that students who choose this exemption still submit both the SAT or ACT and TOEFL or IELTS exams to demonstrate English language proficiency.
  3. You have received a minimum score of 600 on the SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section or a minimum score of 27 on the ACT English section.

Drexel encourages you to submit scores each time you take the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE test. The University will consider your highest section scores across all test dates submitted. Final admission decisions are made using only the highest scores. Each time you submit scores, the University updates your record with any new high scores. If you submit ACT scores and the Composite score is higher than the SAT section scores, the ACT scores will be considered for admission.
