The University Building in Northampton Square was opened in 1970.Another building in Northampton Square - the Tait Building - was completed and opened in 1974.City Technology Ltd was established to develop a new oxygen sensor, designed by academics from City. The sale of the company in 1993 for £24.5m marked one of British academia's most successful commercialisations of intellectual property.The University celebrated 100 years since the founding of the Northampton Institute with a series of high profile public lectures and a gala concert in The Guildhall.City was ranked in the top 30 higher education institutions in the UK by the Times Higher Education Table of Tables.

Admission Criteria & Eligibility

IELTS Academic* : Minimum 5.5 in each of the test areas. The test needs to have been taken no longer than two years from the date that the CAS is generated.

IELTS UKVI* : Minimum 5.5 in each of the test areas. The test needs to have been taken no longer than two years from the date that the CAS is generated.

Pearson test* : 51 in each area. The test needs to have been taken no longer than two years from the date that the CAS is made.

IGCSE* : iGCSE English as a First Language (Syllabus 0500 & 0522) and iGCSE English as Second Language (Syllabus 0510 & 0511)  - Grade C or above.

IB* : English as a first language when taken at 'Standard Level' with 4 points.

Cambridge English Advanced (also known as Certificate in Advanced English)* : Minimum score of 162 or above in all areas (Level B2).

Cambridge English Proficiency (also known as Certificate of Proficiency in English)* : Minimum score of 162 or above in all areas (Level B2).
