City College Kolkata

City College, Kolkata was established in 1881. It is one of the heritage institutions of Kolkata, and played a prominent social role in the wake of the Bengal Renaissance of the nineteenth century. The institution offers courses like Economics and Commerce, Education and Teaching, Education, Humanities and Linguistics. Admission to the institution is based on marks scored in 10+2 board or an equivalent and a face to face interview.

Campus

Activities
The college participates in various tournaments organised by the University of Calcutta, and by state-level sports bodies like the CAB, IFA, and WBTTA etc. This active pro-sports stance has yielded impressive results. The college cricket team won the CAB- organised Inter-College tournament in 2008. Also, a number of students from the college represented the state and the university in different disciplines.
Library
The library boasts of an astounding collection of books, periodicals and digital resources. the College building and consists of an Information Display Section, Circulation Desk, Reading Room, Stack Room, Processing Room and  Reading Room for faculty members. Apart from the Central Library, the College has around 13 departmental libraries under the faculties of Arts, Science and Commerce.
Placement
Students from the institute have been placed in various companies like Raymond, Aloke industries etc. The college has a placement cell that is headed by a faculty member of the college. All activities pertaining to campus recruitment are managed by this cell. Companies are invited to the campus every year. The cell is also involved in training and counselling students. Personality development programmes are also conducted for the students. The cell facilitates industry institute interaction on particular occasions.
