Christian Medical College Vellore

The Christian Medical College and hospital is one of the largest medical centers in India and is situated in the city of Vellore, in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, India. There are approximately 20 courses offered at the undergraduate level. Each year 60 students, of which at least 25 are women, are admitted in the undergraduate medical course. Admission to the courses is through the entrance exam conducted by the college itself. The exam is conducted in the month of May. The results are declared in June and classes commence from July onwards.

The college has started as a medical school which was later upgraded into a university affiliated medical college in 1942, under the name of Christian Medical College.

The college has been rated as the 2nd best medical college in India, second only to AIIMS, Delhi. The ranking has improved over the years. Earlier the college was ranked 4th at an all India level. It is therefore naturally difficult to get admission to this college since the aspirants are many and the seats are limited.
 
Location Information
Christian Medical College is located in Vellore which is a picturesque town located between Chennai and Bengaluru.  It has a spectacular fort, and increasingly attracts pilgrims to the Golden Temple at nearby Sripuram. The college is situated on Ida Scudder road, which is in the heart of the city. There are many places of interest around the college.
Campus Infrastructure
The college campus has all the modern amenities. The students have access to classrooms which are well maintained and laboratories that are fully equipped with all the latest equipments. Students of the college are encouraged to utilise the sports facilities made available for them
Library
The library is made available for use by the staff, and the medical and paramedical students. A wide collection of medical literature, including books, journals, reference sources and pamphlets are available in the library. The library also has electronic resources like e-journals, e-books, etc., that students use for reference purposes.
