CEPT University

CEPT University focuses on understanding,designing, planning, constructing and managing human habitats. Its teaching programs builds thoughtful professionals and its research programs deepen understanding of human habitat. CEPT University comprises five faculties. The Faculty of Architecture was established as ‘School of Architecture’ in 1962. It focuses on design in the private realm. The Faculty of Planning, focused on planning in the public realm, was established in 1972 as the ‘School of Planning’. The Faculty of Technology, which concentrates on engineering and concentration, was established in 1982 as the ‘School of Building Science and Technology’. The Faculty of Design was established in 1992 as the ‘School of Interior Design’. It deals with habita related interiors, crafts, systems, and products. Faculty of Management established in 2013 and it focuses on Habitat and Project Management. CEPT University takes its name from the ‘Center for Environmental Planning and Technology’ (CEPT).  CEPT and the various schools that it comprised were established by the Ahmedabad Education Society with the support of the Government of Gujarat and the Government of India.  The Government of Gujarat incorporated CEPT as a university in 2005. The University Grants Commission recognized CEPT University under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 in 2007. The Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) of the Government of India recognizes the University as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO).

Campus

Infrastructure
The university campus is located at Kasturbhai Lalbhai Ccmpus of the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES). The campus is well equipped with studios, lecture halls, a theatre, laboratories and a library.  The campus also contains computer centres and general activity spaces. It contains more than 430 workstations (PCs) all over the campus. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled and includes an exclusive cyber space with around 12 PCs.
Facilities
The university also offers hostel accommodation for outstation students at separate hostels. It contains about 13 computer laboratories, apart from a structural laboratory, an environmental science laboratory, a remote sensing laboratory, photography and documentation laboratory, a digital image processing laboratory, a geographical information system laboratory, and an energy simulation laboratory.
Student Services:
The Student Services Office (SSO) is the central point of contact for information, services and resources for all prospective and current students. As the Students’ gateway to and from CEPT University, the mission of the SSO is to enhance students’ stay at CEPT University by ensuring a hassle-free, healthy and fun-filled experience.
Labs:
CEPT Laboratory Services support the technical education imparted at the University with labs like structural laboratory, environmental science, remote sensing and transportation labs GIS, and of course computer labs and superior tech applications etc. Lab work is compulsory part of the education at the university where a lot of experimentation and innovation takes place. A building energy and performance testing lab is also one of the newer facilities.
IT Services:
CEPT IT Services provides information and communications technology support to all activities at the University.   It is responsible for providing and maintaining high quality infrastructure and for ensuring uninterrupted availability of services.   
 

Library
The university library contains around 37,000 books, technical videos, and teaching material. The library also runs inter-library book loan arrangements with other big institutions in the city.  It is a member of INFLIBNET.  It subscribes to about 110 periodicals and Indian and foreign journals. The library operations are computerised.
Placement
The college provides placement services to the students. The placement cell acts as a single point of contact between the organisations and the students. The cell not only looks into placement of the students, but also looks into the training and grooming of students for interviews.  The cell conducts various mock aptitude tests and seminars to help the students.
