Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi was established in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya. BHU played a crucial role in the independence movement and developed into a great center of learning in India. BHU has contributed a lot in the development of the country by producing a number of scholars, artists, scientists and technologists who have helped in building a modern India with their individual contribution to the society. BHU ranks among the first few in the country in the field of academic and research output. It has made a name even at international level in a number of areas of Science, Social Science, Technology, Medicine and Agriculture and many more. BHU has more than 2000 research scholars pursuing different academic programmes at Rajiv Gandhi South Campus. It has as array of foreign students from more than 30 countries across the world studying under the same roof.
