BJ Medical College Pune

Byramjee Jeejeebhoy Medical College or BJMC is a state run college affiliated to University of Pune and approved by Medical Council of India. The college is located in Pune, Maharashtra.  It was established in 1946. The college is known for excellence in Medical studies. The college offers 150 seats in the MBBS course.  The college also provides 50 trust based and non-college scholarships. Admission to the college is based on the MH-CET as of now, however this may change to the NEET soon.

Ranking
The college has been ranked as 13th best college in India for Medicine by India Today’s poll on best medical colleges in India 2012.  The ranking has dropped from 8th in 2011 to 13th in 2012.  The college has been part of the poll since 2007.  Being one of the premier institutes for Medical studies in India, it is tough to get into and as of now admission is decided on the score in the MH-CET. However, the criteria may soon change.
Highlights
The library was transformed into the state of the art ‘Library Services Department’ in 1996. Post the Golden Jubilee, a number of newer facilities; both diagnostic and therapeutic have been setup.
Placement
As part of the curriculum in Medical courses, students are supposed to complete a year’s internship to complete the degree.  At BJMC, students complete the internship at Sassoon General Hospital, as it falls under the college’s purview.
