BITS Pilani KK Group Goa Campus

The Goa campus of BITS Pilani was started in 2004 by BITS Pilani. It is privately supported and fully residential. The institute is located in Zuarinagar, Goa, on the banks of the Zuari River, close to the industrial sprawl of Zuari industries. It currently houses around 2,600 students. Approximately 5 courses are offered at the undergraduate level. Aspirants interested in studying here must appear for the BITSAT entrance test. The applications close by mid of May and classes commence by July.

Location and Campus Infrastructure
The charm and beauty of Goa sets the right ambience for BITS, Pilani - Goa campus. Nesting in the lap of verdant hills, overlooking the Zuari River, the campus is spread over an area of 180 acres. The location of campus is unique in the respect of scenic beauty and panoramic view of picturesque surroundings encompassing Zuari River, hillocks, waterways, forests and landscape. The campus is about 10 kms south of Vasco-da-Gama, 20 kms north of Margaon and 7 kms east of Goa airport, along the National Highway – 17B bypass road. The campus houses the main building, which also has the academic and administrative offices, guest house, hostels for boys and girls, student activity centre, faculty and staff quarters, medical centre, playground and shopping complex.
Facilities
Spacious labs, state of art classrooms with soundproof acoustics, modern furniture, computer labs with internet facility and library define the infrastructure of the institute. A shopping complex with a departmental store, cafeteria, bank and all other utility shops provide needful support to the campus inmates. The campus also has a medical centre with two doctors, a pharmacist and other supporting staff who provide round the clock medical coverage to all the residents of the institute.

Hostel and mess facilities
The institute is fully residential. There are separate hostels for boys and girls providing accommodation for each student on campus. Hostel common rooms are equipped with recreational facilities like Table Tennis, Carom along with LED TV with Dish connection, newspaper and telephones. Hostels are provided with Aqua guard purified drinking water facility with water coolers for supplying drinking water and geysers for bathing. The hostels also have a badminton court which is well illuminated with solar lights.

There are two large sized dining halls with a seating capacity of 1200 students at a time. Each dining hall is well equipped with modern equipment and furniture. Both messes are run by outsourced mess contractors.

Student Activity Centre (SAC)
SAC is constructed in an area of 37,000 square feet. It is equipped with indoor sports facilities like badminton, table tennis, billiards, squash, carom, dance room and well-equipped gymnasium with all the modern training machines. The SAC has outdoor facilities like cricket ground net practice arena, football ground, volleyball courts, lawn tennis courts, basketball courts and a futsal court too. This facility helps in the overall development of all students.

Shopping complex and Bank
There is a shopping complex inside the campus which provides the facilities of a supermarket, vegetable and fruit shop, cafeteria, gents saloon, beauty parlor, laundry, book store and stationery shop. HDFC bank has provided the ATM facility in the campus. Along with this, the State Bank of India (SBI) has provided ATM as well as its branch inside the campus itself. This bank branch provides for all the banking requirements of the residents.

Medical centre
The medical centre provides for the primary medical needs of the residents. It provides 24*7 emergency care services for all its residents through a dedicated medical team. The medical centre has all the modern equipment like syringe pumps, ultrasonic therapy, defibrillator and much more. Specialists are available on routine as well as on call basis. The institute is empanelled with corporate, private hospitals and Goa medical college for higher care.

Guest accommodation
Excellent facilities are available for boarding and lodging on payment at Visitor's Guest House (VGH) built in the southern corner of the campus. The VGH allows visitors to have a comfortable stay by providing all the requisite facilities.


Hostel
Since it is a fully residential university, separate hostels are provided for both girls and boys. The students are provided with single room accommodation, furnished with a bed, a wardrobe, a computer cum study table, a mirror and a black granite shelf. Internet connection is provided in each room. Entertainment facilities are provided in each hostel’s common room along with TV and cable connection. Students also have access to national and local newspapers.
Placement
Placement Process
 
  1.     Placement process for a semester starts about two months ahead of the semester.
  2.     Companies provide necessary data through Job announcement form.
  3.     The same is studied and a formal invitation is sent out by e-mail.
  4.     A mutually convenient date and time for Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) followed by selection process is fixed.
  5.     Visit is announced to the students along with data as given in Job announcement form.
  6.     Interested and eligible students apply on-line.
  7.     Company confirms travel plan a week before the allocated visit date.
  8.     The selection list is announced as soon as company finalizes the same.
  9.     Students sign the offer letter and a copy is forwarded to the company.
