Campus

Ranking
AFMC is one of the top-most institutes for medical studies in India. It has always ranked in the top 5 institutes in every ranking. Presently, it is ranked 2nd by the India Today magazine and 2nd By Outlook For The Year 2017. a drop from the earlier position of 2nd which it had maintained over the years. There could be various reasons for this drop including the 6 new AIIMS which have recently come up.
Location and Campus Infrastructure
The college is located right opposite to the race course in South East Pune on Solapur road (NH 9). It has a sprawling campus.  There are basketball courts, football grounds and other blocks, which add to the beauty of the campus.  The infrastructure is really awe-inspiring. The main college building has typical British architecture and it gives you the feel of an army college.

It is compulsory for students to reside at the college hostel and thus any difficulty in accessing the college is out of question. Students, who wish to visit other parts of the city can use the highway.  It helps in accessing transport easily and is well connected to other parts of the city.
Faculty Commentary
The college boasts of the finest teachers for MBBS in the country. Most of the teachers are alumni of the college and have been teaching for more than 15 to 20 years.  They are still serving in the army as doctors. Students have described the faculty as “experienced and knowledgeable”; the faculty at the college hardly gets any complaints, except for excessive discipline and strictness, both of which would seem only natural to a college administered by the armed forces.
Crowd and Hangouts
The intake of 130 students every year has been divided as 105 boys and 25 girls, making girls the minority group. The crowd in general is one of the brightest batch of students, since the admission procedure is rigorous enough to filter out the relatively weaker aspirants.

Students hardly get any time to kill; when they do, Fatimanagar serves as the closest option to hangout. There are many cinema halls and innumerable snack joints which serve every variety of food.

Attendance and Facilities
One would suppose AFMC would be extra strict about attendance.  However, the situation couldn’t be more different.  Astonishingly, the college isn’t as strict as other MUHS colleges though it follows almost the same pattern as other MUHS colleges. Attendance during practicals is given more importance than theory lectures.

Apart from a host of other facilities, the college provides
     •    Accommodation and food
     •    Medical facilities
     •    Leave and travel facilities
     •    Stipend and uniform allowance
