American University in Dubai

The American University in Dubai is a private, nonsectarian institution of higher learning founded in 1995. AUD’s enrollment in 2015-2016 averaged 2,600 students. In Spring 2016, over one hundred nationalities were represented in the AUD student body.AUD’s enrollment in 2015-2016 averaged 2,600 students. In Spring 2016, over one hundred nationalities were represented in the AUD student body.Following the Gulf War in 1991, a team led by Elias Bou Saab from the American College visited the Gulf to establish relationships with various ministries of higher education as well as the region’s schools.

The lack of quality private education at the university level, coupled with an appreciation of the American model of higher education, led them to conduct a feasibility study on the prospects of establishing an American university in the Gulf. The results confirmed the high level of interest and desire for a campus offering an American-accredited educational curriculum.

Admission Criteria & Eligibility

English Language Requirements
All students must achieve a TOEFL® score of 550 and 4.0 on the TWE (CBT 213, Internet-based TOEFL® 79-80 + writing skills range 24-30), or a minimum score of 6.5 in Academic IELTSTM (with 6.5 in Writing), or an equivalent score on a test approved by the MOHESR in order to qualify for admission at AUD.
  • Students from the General track: 90% Min. average in year 12 90% Min. in the Math and the scientific courses (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) Pass a preparatory course in Physics at the university. Any additional Admissions requirements set by the Admissions office Pass the National exams with the required score
  • Students from the Advanced track: Achieve the min. score required for acceptance in the university of choice Any additional Admissions requirements set by the Admissions office Pass the National exams with the required score.
  • Students from ADEC track: Pass the advanced math (level 3) and the advanced physics courses (level 3) in the High school. Achieve the min. score required for acceptance in the university of choice Any additional Admissions requirements set by the Admissions office Pass the National exams with the required score.
