Living on Campus
JGU is located on an 80-acre residential campus in the National Capital Region (NCR) of Delhi. The campus was designed by the award-winning French architect Stephane Paumier, whose projects include the Alliance Française complex and the Air Force Museum in New Delhi.
Amenities on campus include fully air-conditioned hostels, academic blocks, top-of-the-line catering and housekeeping. The university has state-of-the-art Infrastructure that facilitates a comfortable and academically vibrant environment for students and staff.
The entire campus is Wi- Fi enabled. Smoking and alcohol consumption is strictly prohibited on campus. JGU is committed to making the campus disabled-friendly. Ramps, elevators, special washrooms, etc are an integral part of the university infrastructure. With students coming from different parts of the country and the world, the JGU community is diverse and exciting, allowing students to learn, be challenged, and have fun both inside and outside the classroom.
The safety of our students is of paramount importance to us. To ensure a safe campus for students and staff, JGU has a robust security system. The campus is manned round the clock by well-trained male and female security staff. Surveillance cameras are placed at strategic spots, including access points.
Student Residence
The University Hall of Residence for students consists of several blocks of building designed by a French architect. There are corridors, open spaces and common rooms within each block. There are separate blocks for male and female students. The accommodation for students in these blocks follows international norms and the rooms are aesthetically furnished. Hygiene is an important consideration in these Halls. In addition, the campus provides recreational facilities including a gymnasium and other indoor and outdoor games. The surroundings are fully landscaped with lawns, bushes and trees.
Student Residence
The residential facilities at JGU provide living space for 4,300 students, with generous en-suite bedrooms, shared bathroom (toilets, washbasins, shower), common kitchens on every floor and common rooms in each hostel. The buildings are equipped with state-of-the-art teaching and IT facilities that meet the student's learning and professional development needs. All study rooms have free access to the web. The university also provides single- gender residential accommodation for its students in its Halls of Residence in a comfortable, modern, self- contained living environment.
Dining
The University has secured the services of Sodexo for catering and housekeeping facilities; providing essential meals (breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner) open to students, faculty and staff. Sodexo is a French multi-national concern, and one of the largest food services and facilities management companies in the world. A state-of-the-art kitchen with the best equipment ensures that the wide array of the cuisines can be prepared well. The food is served under hygienic conditions. The food services are made available in the dining halls of the University on self-services basis. Only vegetarian meals are served with the exception of eggs in certain meals. World class Food Court – “Biswamil Bistro” reflecting the global aspirations and Indian traditions. Outlets at this food court of JGU provide multi cuisine options through brands such as Subway, Burger Point, 34 Chowringee Lane, Street Food by Punjab Grill, Bercos, Moti Mahal, Domino’s Pizza, Breakfast Round the Clock {BRC} & Keventers. A wide range of Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian food options are thus available for the benefit of the Students, Faculty, Staff and Guests/Visitors of JGU.
Other Facilities
The campus also has a library with print and electronic resources, healthcare services, pharmacy, sports and fitness facilities, laundry, ATM, postal and courier services, convenience store and transport facilities.
Placements
The B.A. (Hons.) P. Sc. will be of particular interest for students who are passionate about knowing what politics is all about. Those who wish to pursue careers in active national politics or international organizations and diplomacy will find this programme one of the best not only in India but globally because of its focus of the practical elements of politics. The crux of this degree, like any other degree at JSIA, is on teaching students how to read, think, and write on national politics and global issues, and this set of skills and understandings will be fundamental to any professional path they pursue. Political Science is a versatile social science degree leading to a variety of career paths. Political scientists study governing systems, political development, and political theory. While pursuing this degree from JSIA, students will not only learn about politics and government, they will also gain valuable analytical, communication and research skills. Having high quality writing and verbal articulation abilities will enable students to pursue careers in the following fields: Civil Service and Bureaucracy, Political Leadership, Political Consultancies and Political Parties, Embassies and High Commissions, News Media, Nongovernmental Organisations (NGOs), Intergovernmental Organisations (IGOs), Public Relations Firms, Risk Analysts, Think Tanks, Activist and Advocacy Groups and Higher Studies and Academia
A Career Director provides mentoring to the students with assistance to get the internship and placement opportunities in organisations like United Nations system, Diplomatic Missions, Media group, Think Tanks, Financial Institutions, Not-for-Profit Organisations, Regional, Semi-Government and Non-Governmental organisations. The Curriculum of B.A. GA includes a mandatory guided internship that prepares students for careers with multiple opportunities in ever-expanding career streams like Peace and Conflict Resolution, International Justice, International Economic Development, Humanitarian Relief, Human Rights Advocacy, Political and Economic Risk Analysis etc. The University also provides the students an opportunity for integrated Capstone Project in the last semester for the Masters Batch where the students work with the set of organisations on a specially assigned project. This gives students an opportunity to a practical learning environment guided by their faculty. Some of the students are absorbed in the organisation leading to a great career options making them versatile international affairs professionals.
