The department of Health Sciences in MAHE Manipal is as old as the university itself. Kasturba Medical College (KMC) was one of the first private medical colleges established in India post-independence.  Since then, it has remained one of the top medical colleges in India. 

Today, KMC has three different campuses in India – Manipal, Mangalore, and Jamshedpur. MBBS degree is also offered in MAHE Manipal’s offshore campus in Melaka Manipal. Beyond MBBS, the faculty of health sciences has more than 10 different courses. 

Faculty of Science, Technology, and Management

MAHE Manipal houses several institutes under science, technology, and management. The Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) was established in 1957 and has now extended to the Bengaluru campus.

MTMC Jamshedpur

Manipal Tata Medical College was established under a consortium initiative between TATA Steel and MAHE Manipal as a premier institute of medical education. Under this consortium initiative, MAHE Manipal has created the necessary infrastructure for a medical college at Ardeshir Dalal Memorial Hospital (ADMH) Campus in Baridih, spread over 20 acres. A total of 150 seats will be made available for MBBS students annually and the Tata Main Hospital (TMH), Jamshedpur, is the attached teaching hospital of MTMC Jamshedpur.

With only three medical colleges in Jharkhand, the establishment of MTMC has helped with the availability of trained doctors, improve healthcare facilities, and thereby contribute to the well-being of the local populace. This initiative also contributed to the increase in medical seats for aspirants for medical education in the State.
