My Journey

My father is in the Finance industry and there have always been talks of me pursuing a similar career. But, I needed to be sure that I would do well in it and enjoy it. I am not very inclined towards academics, I am a trained dancer and love sports. To get more clarity on my choice of career, I took Univariety's Ideal Career Test and Brand Selector Test. It was no surprise to find that my strengths indeed lay in finance. I do enjoy Maths classes and have an interest in numbers. So, now I knew I was sure of a career in finance. But what next?

Univariety’s ObservationThe parent and student were confused about courses and admission requirements. The student was inclined towards Business Management and needed professional guidance to explore courses and career options along with a plan that could get her into a good college.
Univariety’s SolutionTo understand the student’s personality and interest, she was asked to take up the psychometric assessment. The student discovered that she was interested in Fashion more than Business Management. Univariety recommended ProMap, a 50-day profile building program that provides a step by step roadmap for students. Her strong academic background combined with the activities recommended in ProMap helped her create a holistic student profile for college admissions. The student has chosen Fashion Merchandising and Communication as her course of study in college.

Through my 17 years of professional experience, I delved into a variety of disciplines, including Advertising & Public Relations, Ad Film Production, Operations, Sales & Marketing, Educational Counselling, and Mentoring. A few years ago, I began researching courses in career counselling. The accreditation, international affiliation, detailed content and student support that the Global Career Counsellor program provided, not only encouraged me to enrol but also further my career in the field. Through this journey of discovering who I am and what my purpose is, I found a path that led me to start Discover U.

Career Counselling is the need of the hour! The topic I fathomed was apt because in the early year's students usually pick up the direction in which they are driven by the teacher. However, once they enter higher grades in school the moulding must continue along with the chiselling. This perhaps can be described as, honing the skills and making every student love what he or she wants to do.
As school facilitators, we help students realise their potential by energizing and guiding them correctly. We identify every student’s aptitude and counsel them to pick the path that is best suited. This cannot be achieved without making Career Counselling one of the major components of the school & educational experience.
