The General Cultural/SAARC Scholarship is a merit based scholarship provided by the Embassy of India, Kathmandu. The number of scholarships offered varies each year. Students interested in Art & Design, Business Management, Computer Science & Information Technology, and Hospitality, Tourism & Events at the undergraduate level can apply for this scholarship.

Scholarship Details

The scholarship is applicable to students from Nepal for studies in India. It is open for all undergraduate students.

Requirements

Eligibility Criteria

Students can apply irrespective of their gender. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must:
  • Applicants must have passed Class 12 or equivalent examination with compatible subject in class 12 and have secured minimum of 60% marks in aggregate as well as in English.
  • Applicants should be between 17 to 22 years of age.
  • For Music course Photographs of performances, audio/video cassettes/CD’s must be produced.
  • For Fine Arts course Photographs of arts / sculpture must be produced.

Application Process

Students need to submit the filled application form before a given deadline.
  • The application form may be downloaded from the Indian Embassy website and filled in legibly. Students can check the link below:http://www.indianembassy.org.np/
  • Students should submit five copies along with photocopies of citizenship duly translated in English language and certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Govt. of Nepal, Kathmandu
  • Students should also submit the attested mark-sheet of class XII  and transcript
  • Originals need not be attached at this stage
  • The short-listed candidates will be informed individually for interview, which is conducted in Kathmandu/Birgunj/Biratnagar
  • The students should indicate their address and contact telephone numbers/e-mail address clearly in the prescribed column of the application form
  • Any change in address/telephone number should also be intimated immediately through a letter

Additional Information

  • Selection is based on the applicant’s academic record and performance in interview
  • Confirmation of admission by the Embassy is given only after receipt of the same from the concerned Indian University.
