JIPMER MBBS Entrance Test is based on objective type multiple choice question having four sections. The four sections are: English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology and Botany). Physics 60 Marks,Chemistry 60 Marks,Biology 60 Marks,English Language & Comprehension 10 Marks,Logical &Quantitative Reasoning 10 Marks.All these four sections comprise a total of 200 questions of with time duration of 2.5 hours or 150 minutes. There are no negative marks for any of the 200 questions. The Test is conducted in metro-cities of India.IPMER imparts Undergraduate (UG), Postgraduate (PG) and Super speciality Medical Training through a working hospital (JIPMER Hospital) with a bed strength of 1500 and a Nursing College. M.B.B.S., B.Sc. M.Sc., M.D., M.S., Degree Courses are offered in 32 various disciplines. Super speciality departments of Cardiology, Neurology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology& Neonatology, Clinical Immunology, Clinical Pharmacology, Clinical Haematology and Surgical Gastroenterology also offer D.M./M.Ch. Courses. Fellowship courses are available in four disciplines. Full-time Ph.D. Programmes are available in six disciplines.

  • Candidate must be of Indian nationality
  • Candidate must have completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or must complete the age on or before the last week of december in the same year. Candidate must be at least 17 years old.
  • The higher/senior secondary examination or the Indian school certificate examination equivalent to 10+2 higher / senior secondary with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology/Mathematics as subjects of study in class XI and XII.
  • Candidate must have passed in the separately in Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Biotechnology and English and obtained a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology /Bio-technology in the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates passed in qualifying examination other than mentioned exam have to submit an eligibility certificate before admission is finalized.

Application Process

Admission processes to the MD/MS Courses will be made biannually during January and July sessions.Call for applications will be announced in the month of October and April every year and all major news papers in India will carry the announcement.Online registration of applications will be made on JIPMER website
www.jipmer.edu.in Entrance examination will be held during the 4th Sunday of every November/May Commencement of course on 1st of January /1st of July. Close of the admission is 31st January / July. Admission will be made as per Roster point reservation through open counseling.

It is recommended that students obtain complete clarity on the examination pattern and then make a clear preparation plan. One should give themselves an entire year to prepare for the examination. Questions:  There  will  be  100  objective  type  Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). Each MCQ will have four answer options and a single best response.
Negative marking: There will be no negative marking.
