About Goa Common Entrance Test

Goa common entrance test (GCET) is conducted by Directorate of Technical Education Government of Goa for admission into Government, Government-aided and un-aided colleges in Goa offering Bachelors degree in fields of Architecture, Dentistry,Engineering, Medicine and Pharmacy.
Test pattern:
The examination consists of five set of question papers that are based on the core subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Computer Science.
Candidates need to appear for a complete different combination of subjects as per their preferred field of study. Candidates seeking admission into Engineering, Pharmacy or Architecture fields need to appear the following subjects:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry
The examination is conducted in the above subjects, each subject consists of 75 multiple choice questions and every question carries one mark. The test is of two hours duration and there is no negative marking.

Eligibility

To be eligible the candidate should have passed the higher secondary school certificate (Std.XIIth) examination of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with English, Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following subjects:

  • Chemistry
  • Bio-Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Biology

The candidate needs to secure a minimum of 45% marks in Physics & Mathematics with one of the above subjects.

Application Process

  • prospectus is uploaded on website: http://www.dte.goa.gov.in ofthe Directorate of Technical Education.
  • Applicants shall download,print and submit application form for GCET, at notified locations as per Centre opted,on specified dates,along with application fee of Rs.1800/-payable vide demand draft drawn in favour of “Director of Technical Education” at Panaji Goa, on any Scheduled Bank (or any other approved mode of remittance,as notified),and three identical photographs as indicated,and other specified certificates (self attested photocopies), to obtain the Photo Admit Card,from the Admission Committee. Admit cards will  be issued only to candidates in person.

To secure a good rank in the entrance test it is very important to prepare accordingly. We recommend you to obtain complete clarity on the examination pattern and then make a preparation plan at least one year before the test date, refer previous years question papers, reference books and enroll in a coaching institute.
