About Assam Common Entrance Examination

The Directorate of Technical Education, Assam is the controlling and monitoring body for admission into the Government Engineering Colleges in Assam.Duration of The Exam is 180 Minutes.Candidates for the general seats shall be selected strictly on the basis of merit of the Common Entrance Examination (CEE) conducted by the Director of Technical Education, Assam, in places and times notified by the Director of Technical Education in Assam Gazette and news papers every year. The test is normally held in the month of May.
‚ÄčThe Director of Technical Education, Assam, will publish the merit list based on the results of the Common Entrance Examination (CEE), and candidates will be selected in order of merit from the list. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes or any other categories must also appear in the Common Entrance Examination (CEE). They will, however, be selected against the quota reserved for them according to merit.
In the admission test, candidates must appear in the following papers carrying only Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ):
  • Mathematics 100 Marks in 2 Hours
  • Physics 100 Marks in 2 Hours
  • Chemistry 100 Marks in 2 Hours

Eligibility

To be eligible for Admission to any of the Colleges a candidate must fulfill the following conditions:-
(a)The Candidate must be an Indian Citizen and a Permanent resident of Assam [with a valid PRC of Assam issued by competent authority]
(b)For admission into B.Tech. Courses the candidate must pass the Qualifying Examination individually in the same sitting without any grace marks in the subject of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English with a minimum of 50 % (45 % in case of SC and 40 % in case of ST) marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.The same sitting means a candidate must appear all the four subjects i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English together.
(c)The Candidate must have a valid rank in the Entrance Examination (CEE) for admission.
(d)The Candidate must not above 21 years or below 17 years of age .Upper age limit mentioned in (d) above is relaxed to 22 years in case of B.Sc. passed     Candidates.Upper age limit mentioned in (d) above is relaxed by 3 years for Scheduled Cast and Scheduled Tribe candidates.
(e)The Candidate must possessa good moral character.
(f)The Candidate must be physically and mentally fit.

Application Process

Candidates shall be selected strictly on the basis of merit of the Entrance Examination (CEE ).
Candidates will be called for counseling and Admission on the basis of merit list of CEE . The Schedule of Counselingwill be published by Directorate of Technical Education,Assam.

Assam joint admission test is very competitive and securing a good score in the examination is very important in order to secure admission. It is recommended that the candidate obtains complete clarity on the examination pattern and then make a preparation plan at least one year before the test date, refer previous years question papers, reference books and enroll in a coaching institute.
