The University of Tasmania is classed within the top two per cent of Universities worldwide and has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching.

In 2015 alone, six University of Tasmania academics were given citations in the prestigious Australian Awards for University Teaching – the highest number for any Australian university. Here, you can take advantage of a contained, socio-ecological system in which to observe and understand some of the most significant challenges facing Australia and the world.The University of Tasmania has campuses within the three main regions of Tasmania – Hobart in the south, Launceston in the north and Burnie in the north-west – ensuring full representation throughout the state. Our campuses make the most of Tasmania's geographical advantages including rivers, mountains and beaches and are close to business hubs and public facilities. In 2006 the University expanded, establishing two campuses in Sydney – Darlinghurst and Rozelle.

Admission Criteria & Eligibility

Most of our undergraduate programs have the following English language requirements.

  • IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 (no individual band less than 5.5)
  • TOEFL (iBT) 72 (no skill below: Reading 10; Listening 9; Speaking 16; Writing 19)
  • PTE Academic 50 with no score lower than 42
  • UTASAccess-English Level 6 - 60% (no individual score less than 55%)
  • Cambridge CAE (Certificate of Advanced English) - B Grade
  • Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English) - C Grade
  • Cambridge BEC (Business English Certificate) Higher - C Grade
