University of Mysore

The University of Mysore was established on 27th July, 1916 during the benevolent reign of the Maharaja of Mysore. The university is located in Mysore. The university offers courses at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. Candidates seeking admission into the postgraduate courses at the university have to take an entrance exam organized by the university. There is no entrance exam for the undergraduate courses and admission is based on merit.

Library: The Library has grown to become one of the leading university libraries in the country with a rich collection of books, journals, reports, rare materials and archives, with multiple locations and a collection of more than 1.2 million items. The Library collection grew since the days of His Highness Maharaja Mummadi Krishnaraje Wadiyar who encouraged building up of need-based library collection.

University Computer Centre: University Computer Centre was established in the year 1980 under University Grant Commission (UCC), New Delhi, and primarily to promote the research activity in the university. The centre facility has been upgraded from time to time by installing latest computer system catering to the computing needs of the faculty, Research Scholars, students and university administration.

Gandhi Bhavan: One of the first Gandhi Bhavan’s to be established in India, way back in 1962, the University’s Gandhi Bhavan has long history of association with Gandhians, and institutions committed to promoting Gandhian philosophy. The Gandhi Bhavan has rich collection of books dating back to the pre-independence period and is in the process of establishing a Gandhi Museum to preserve archival materials belonging to Gandhian era and other documents throwing light on Gandhiji’s work and life.

Centre for Proficiency Development and Placement Services (CPDPS): The University Centre for Proficiency Development and Placement Services (CPDPS) is a seminal initiative of the University of Mysore (UoM) to facilitate students to develop talent and competency. It focuses on augmenting the overall proficiency and employability levels of students so that they could scale up to national and international standards.
