St. Anns College for Women

St. Ann’s college for women came into being in 1983 with 2 undergraduate courses and 106 students. Today it has emerged as an institution of excellence, enshrining its ideal “Light of Life”. The appeal of the college cuts across social, financial, cultural and linguistic barriers. Being a missionary college, the effort is to foster a rich campus culture, reinforcing the need fro an ethical component, integrity and social concern, which in addition to academic excellence and skill enhancement, constitutes the whole educational experience Committed as it is to the highest ideals of higher education with its vision of academic excellence, skill enhancement and value enrichment, quality consciousness has permeated into every aspect of the institution’s functioning.The college offered itself for assessment by NAAC in the year 2006 and 2013. The concerted efforts towards quality goals culminated in the award of ‘A’ grade. Further recognition as a ‘College with Potential for Excellence’ by UGC in 2010 and 2014.

Campus Infrastructure

The college is housed in a 4 acre campus with spacious, well-furnished class-rooms, well-equipped laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Micro-biology, Genetics, Nutrition, Bio-chemistry, Bio-Technology, Psychology and a Museum. A modern state-of-the-art computer center is located in a fully air-conditioned block. There is a large acoustically treated auditorium, spacious audio-visual rooms, well-furnished conference hall and a seperate block to accommodate the P.G. Courses. Language teaching is aided by the well equipped language labs for English and French. Smart boards and LCDs add to the learning experience at St.Ann’s.The digital display boards installed in the corridors show the latest updates of the events in the campus.

 
 
Placements Comments

St. Ann’s College for Women established a well structured Placement &Career Counseling Cell which is an integral part of the institution. The institute has complete infrastructure for effective functioning of the Placement & Career Counseling Cell. The PC Cell aims at improving the scope of the student towards becoming a corporate citizen. It prepares the students for the campus selections prospectively.  

The PC Cell is headed by an experienced placement officer as is well supported by both faculty members as well as student volunteers from all the streams. The main objective of PC Cell is to assist the students by arranging pre-placement talks, written tests, group discussions, JAM sessions, personal interviews, training for soft skills, industry visits etc.

Facilities
Digital Studio:
Digital studio, a joint initiative of the Dept. of Physics and Electronics and the Dept. of Computer Science. The digital studio is being used to capture all the events happening in the campus and are made accessible to all the students and faculty
Counseling Cell :
The counseling cell is engaged in prevention, remediation and intervention through cooperation and facilitation. It assists students in identifying problem areas or difficulties, resolve their emotional problems and overcome academic and social deficiency through evaluations and individual consultations. 
Health Centre:
A well equipped and fully furnished Health Centre is located in the campus to provide health care facilities to staff and students. A consultant physician is available on a regular basis from 10.30 am to 1.30 to provide free consultation.
