Sri Venkateswara College

Sri Venkateshwara College or SVC, New Delhi is a publicly owned constituent college of University of New Delhi, located in Dhaula Kuan, New Delhi. The college was founded in 1961, at New Delhi by the ‘Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams’(TTD) Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh. Dr. Sarvepalli Radhskrishnan, the then President of India laid the foundation stone of the college.  

The college runs around 20 undergraduate courses and has close to 3500 students.  It was one of the 47 colleges among 14 states and 32 universities that were awarded the “College for Potential Excellence Status” in 2004.  Different departments have different criteria for admission to various courses.  However, it is one of the most renowned colleges in India, so securing admission is tough, no matter what course one applies for.

The college has been ranked among the top 20 for Science, Commerce and Humanities studies in India, according to India Today’s poll of best colleges in India 2017.  
Faculty
Sri Venkateshwara College is known for its dedicated and adept faculty members, who have been consistently provided inspiration to the students when needed.  The faculty mostly consists of highly experienced people, who have achieved recognition for their innovative and important research work in niche areas of study.  This attribute of the faculty seems to rub off on to students of the college.
Highlights
The college operates two 36 room hostels within the campus, for both boys and girls.  The rooms are shared among two students and the hostel can accommodate around 72 boys and girls. The hostel is relatively recent and only started in 2008.  The college also has a state-of-the-art Bioinformatics Centre, which was established in 2006 to encourage teaching of biology through bioinformatics. The project was initially funded by the Department of Biotechnology, under the Biotechnology Information System (BTISnet) programme.

Placement
The Placement Cell provides a platform to students seeking jobs in their fields of interest such as finance, marketing, human resources. Companies like DELOITTE and KPMG which are amongst the BIG FOUR Audit companies offering packages 4.25 and 3.5L p.a for the job of an Associate recruit 15-20 students every year. Some of these companies also provide articleships for the Chartered Accountancy students. Other big names include E&Y, Axis Risk, etc which recruit around 15 students every year. Anheuser-Busch Inbev, a Multinational came this year offering a "Global Management Trainee" program offering a package of 10L p.a. Also, start ups like Groupon, Storehippo also came for recruitment offering 7.25L p.a and 4L p.a respectively for the job of a Marketing Executive.
SVC’s placement cell interfaces with corporations to conduct recruitment drives and also imparts academic training to students. Some of the top recruiters at SVC are:
