Oxford Brookes University

Oxford Brookes University began life as the Oxford School of Art in 1865. It occupied one room on the ground floor of the Taylor Institution in the centre of the city.

Five years later the School of Science was incorporated. Classes in a range of scientific and technical subjects were available. As well as evening classes in the University Museum. In 1891 the School was taken over by the Technical Instruction Committee (part of Oxford City Council), and renamed Oxford City Technical School.Oxford Brookes University has over 150 years of history. We started out as a small School of Art in borrowed teaching rooms and have grown into one of the UK's top modern universities with a local, national and international reputation for teaching and research excellence.Significant investment in our estate has already resulted in multi award-winning facilities and this investment carries on with a £220 million investment over the next 10 years.

Admission Criteria & Eligibility

  • HSC/Standard 12th (grade depends on course applied for but typically at least 65%)
  • International Baccalaureate: from 29 points
  • British A Levels: from BCC
Equivalent qualifications can be accepted
  • IELTS 6.0-7.0, with 6.0 in reading and writing, and 5.5 in listening and speaking
  • Oxford Brookes Pre-sessional University English
  • Some alternative qualifications, including 60% or more in the English element of HSC/Standard 12th
