Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata or Calcutta Medical College is a state government funded college of Medicine. It was founded in 1835 as Medical College, Bengal in Kolkata. The college was the first ever to offer a degree in European medicine in Asia. It is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata. The college is located at College Street in Kolkata, Paschim Bangla. It offers 3 UG degrees as of now and has been recognised as one of the oldest and most prestigious medical colleges in India. From 2013 onwards, admission to the college is slated to be based on the rank scored in the All India Level NEET.

The college has been ranked as the 17th top medical college in India for 2012, according to India Today magazine. The ranking has witnessed a drop of four places from its spot of 13th in 2011 to 17th in 2012. However, the college has regularly featured among the top 25 medical colleges in India since 2007. Admission to the college is based on the rank scored in the All India Level NEET.
Placement
Most Medical and Dental colleges don’t have placement cells as these degrees are inclusive of a one year compulsory internship. Students are required to finish their internships at the affiliated hospitals, in this particular case: Medical Hospital, Ezra Hospital etc.
