Medical College, Pune (BVDU)

Medical College, also known as Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, is situated on the Pune-Satara Road in South Pune. It is located in close proximity to Swargate (a major bus terminus). The college offers 3 undergraduate courses. It was established in 1989. Until it became a constituent unit of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University, it was affiliated to University of Pune.

Admission into the college is on the basis of an all-India common entrance test conducted by Bharati Vidyapeeth University. The forms are available in January and the test is generally conducted in May. The results are declared by June and classes begin in July. The medical degrees awarded by the college are recognized by the Medical Council of India. The college also received recognition from the General Medical Council of Great Britain. It is listed in ‘WHO’’s directory of recognized medical educational institutes.

Campus Infrastructure
The buildings are constructed to provide all the basic amenities that are required for meaningful teaching and learning process .The total built up area of college is 2,55,000 sq.ft.The college building is a four storied, well illuminated and ventilated premises with big corridors and ample space. The administrative block & the academic sections of the college are fully computerized with 24 hours Internet facility.For Academic activities the institute has 5 lecture halls, each admeasuring around 2000 sq ft. (Seating capacity of 180 students) with in-built acoustics and projection facilities including LCD projector. 
Lecture Hall:
Air-conditioned conference halls are available for college council and other meetings.
Examination halls have a Seating Capacity for 375 candidates. There is a separate hall for the Central Assessment Programme (CAP) located in college building.
The Medical Education Technology Unit is located on the third floor of the college building. This unit provides basic and advanced training for teachers in the Medical 
College Auditorium:
There are two centrally air conditioned auditoriums built to carry out the Co-Curricular and extracurricular activities like conferences, seminars, cultural programmes etc.
The departments are well equipped to support student learning and also have state of the art equipment like Fully Automated Chemi-luminescence, Immuno-hisochemistry, Teaching Microscopes, ELISA Facilities etc. to aid patient diagnosis and to update post graduate training in special fields like Endocrinology, Histopathology, Bacteriology, Immunology etc.

Facilities
Medical College has a resourceful library with round the clock internet and digital library facilities. The attached tertiary care hospital provides multidisciplinary OPD and IPD with super specialty services. A blood bank and a pharmacy are also present on campus. The college also has two centrally air conditioned auditoriums. Each department laboratory is supplied with equipment like fully automated chemi-luminescence, microscopes, immuno-hisochemistry, ELISA facilities etc. A separate statistical unit photographic cum audiovisual unit is also present.
Library Details
The college has a separate central library spanning three floors. Separate reading rooms are provided for undergraduate students, post graduate students and staff members. The library has around 13,272 books. It subscribes to around 139 journals (46 National and 93 International). A separate archives section with 2153 previous volumes of various journals is present on the top floor of the library.
