Kishinchand Chellaram (K C) College of Arts, Science and Commerce

Kishinchand Chellaram College of Arts, Science and Commerce or KC College is an educational institution affiliated to University of Mumbai. The college is located in Churchgate in Mumbai, Maharashtra. It was set up in 1954 under the guidance of Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board. KC College was the second management institute to be set up in Bombay, after it was relocated to the city post-partition. The college offers around 26 undergraduate courses and around 26 trust based and non-college scholarships. It has an intake of around 1300 students every year. Admission to the college is based on marks secured in 10+2.

Campus

Location
The college is located in one of the upscale localities of Mumbai: Churchgate. It is equidistant from Churchgate and Marine drive (around 2 minutes). The college has students from all over Mumbai, trains and buses are the easiest and most convenient ways to commute. Although many students travel to the college by personal transport, but the ratio of such students is lower. Trains and buses remain the most popular choices.
Infrastructure
The college shares its campus with HR College of Commerce. It is a six storey building with usual classrooms, though some of the classrooms are air conditioned. The laboratories are quite neatly maintained and contain most of the equipment needed. There is a badminton court on the ground floor, where other indoor games like chess and table tennis are also played. The college contains one of the most high tech libraries in town, primarily because these libraries are air conditioned and because of its large selection of audio visual sections.
Hangout
The college boasts of a splendid canteen. There is Frankie parlour bang opposite the college gate which is milling with students. There are countless restaurants like Relish, Mocha, and Pizzeria which are famous hangouts for students. There are many local restaurants like Satkar, Shri Sagar and Samadhan. Students also like to hang around ‘tapris’ (regular food stalls). Bookworms are spotted at Oxford book shop near the college gates. Movie lovers enjoy the single screen at Eros cinema. The most popular hangout spot is Marine Drive, which looks absolutely divine in the evenings.
Others Crowd
KC College comes under the HSNC board. Therefore, a majority of the students in this college are Sindhi’s. In spite of a Sindhi dominated college, students from different backgrounds and religions can be seen, making it a good cosmopolitan environment. One can find students from Northwest suburbs, Bandra and even from New Mumbai. Not only the college has one of the most happening crowds in the city, but also strikes a perfect balance between studies and extracurricular activities. The college has a history of producing good results and conducting excellent and rocking festivals/events. There are many clubs in the college for cultural, environmental, sports and social activities. Many celebrities and famous personalities visit the campus during events.
