Kamala Nehru College for Women

Kamala Nehru College for Women, New Delhi is one of the first women colleges in India. The college is named after late freedom fighter and wife of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, freedom fighter Kamala Nehru. Affiliated to Delhi University the college was established in 1964. It was renamed twice before the current campus foundation stone was laid in 1972, and the name Kamala Nehru College was coined. The college is located in Hauz Khas in South Delhi. It is known for excellence in Journalism and Humanities studies. The college offers around 25 undergraduate courses and has close to 5000 students. Admission to the college is based on merit in 10+2.

In 2017, Kamala Nehru College for Women ranked 7th in India for PR, Communication and Journalism studies and 21st Position for Humanities Studies by India Today. The rankings were only introduced in 2012. The college is not easy to get into and admission to the college is based on merit marks scored in 10+2.
Campus Infrastructure
The college boasts of a well-maintained and aesthetically pleasing campus. The campus is quite picturesque and the lawns in front of the building, add to the pleasant nature. The classrooms are not air-conditioned, but contain high-end teaching tools like projectors and speakers. The college also contains a well designed conference hall, seminar hall and an auditorium. Psychology, Computer and Geography laboratories are extremely well maintained and stocked. The library is a 3-storey block, providing for the academic needs of the students. Other literature books are also available.
Faculty
The faculty is one of the things the college is known for. They consist of well experienced and good lecturers. The college has a mix of senior and junior professors. All are approachable and co-operative. The teaching is excellent with most classes being conducted in English and students are keen to learn.
Attendance
The college expects students to be present regularly and are pretty strict about attendance. The minimum attendance level is 67%, and students crossing the mark can expect parents to be summoned and asked to sign a bond or an agreement. As Delhi University awards students who score 85% attendance, students rarely bunk classes.
Placement
The Placement Cell at the college was set up in 2006. The Cell looks into all activities pertaining to placement, from holding personality development classes for students to organising recruitment drives on campus. Some of the organisations that have hired students include HCL, CII, Tata Steel, Bharti Airtel, Mckinsey among others.
Prospicio prides itself at providing quality employment opportunities. We prefer companies who offer course based opportunities. A detailed study is done about the company and its job offer on the scale of quality aspects i.e. work culture and work-life balance, etc. Hence, the companies approached are encouraged to conduct on-campus placement drives for maximum participation by the students.
Prospicio also recognizes the importance of having some on-the-job experience in the practical world to be suitable candidates for placement and, hence, provides a platform for myriad internship opportunities across various fields for all courses.
Career counseling
We provide career counseling and spreading career awareness regarding various courses by organizing interactive lectures under the mentorship of senior corporate personnel and alumni.
Soft Skills and Personality Development
Prospicio helps in personality grooming and provides students a platform for expression and enhancement of their soft skills. This instills a sense of confidence that motivates the students towards achieving their goals.
Training in personal interviews and group discussions
Prospicio takes initiative in organizing brainstorming sessions that would make the candidates more employable and adept at facing the grilling interviews.
Psychometric tests
These tests inculcate aplomb amongst the applicants and provide a launching platform to strengthen their competencies regardless of their courses.

Facilities
At KNC, we educate and nurture the young women with the knowledge of what a woman is, what a woman can be or do. There is a radical change in the place of women in the present day society and with this change, we believe in forging ahead freeing ourselves from discrimination and prejudice. The College envisions its students to become rightful participants in democratic process of the country while creating new horizons for other not-so-fortunate men and women in our society. We choose to emphasize on thinking and knowing, and we believe in cultivating in our students a sense of curiosity and a passion for questioning.
