JNTU College of Engineering, Anantapur

JNTU (Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University) College of Engineering, Anantapur, or JNTU Anantapur, is located in Andhra Pradesh. The college offers around 7 undergraduate courses to over 1500 students. The college was established in 1946, under a post-war reconstruction programme. It functioned from Madras for 2 years following which it was shifted to Anantapur in 1948. Admission into the college is based on marks obtained in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics & Mathematics as major subjects. The minimum percentage required to be eligible for admission is 50%. Selection is on the basis of marks obtained in EAMCET, which is conducted in May. The classes start in July.

Campus Infrastructure
JNTU Anantapur has a large campus spread over an area of 250 acres. It has a peaceful atmosphere, away from the pollution of towns and cities. The college has four boys’ hostels and two girls’ hostels. The hostels have reasonable accommodation and facilities for out-station students. It also has staff quarters that are located very near to the college. The college also has a central library that is well equipped with books, journals, magazines, reference manuals and text books.
Placements
The college has a Training & Placement Cell that is headed by a faculty member of the college. All activities pertaining to campus recruitment are managed by this Cell. Companies are invited to the campus every year. The Cell is also involved in training and counselling students. Personality development programmes are also conducted for the students. The Cell facilitates industry institute interaction on particular occasions.
