Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar)

Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar also known as IIT-Gn is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technologies. It is located at Gandhinagar, Gujarat, and was established in the year 2008. There are around 120 seats available for admission at the undergraduate level. The institute offers around 3 undergraduate courses in Chemical, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

Each year, admission to the undergraduate programmes is through the JEE entrance exam which is conducted in the month of April. The results for the same are declared in May. The students who clear the JEE main exam must then appear for the JEE advanced, which is conducted in the month of June. Results are declared in July and classes commence from August onwards.

Campus

Campus Infrastructure
All the academic and administrative blocks are airconditioned. The entire facility is Wi-Fi enabled. There are two sets of hostels (on- and off- campus). The on-campus hostel is for both boys and girls and the off-campus hostel is only for boys. The off-campus hostel is just across the road from the college within a walkable distance. The library is big, air conditioned and has Wi-Fi facility. All the labs are new and meet international standards.
Faculty
The faculty members at Indian Institute of Technology-Gandhinagar have been recruited after a very tough screening procedure. The faculty of this institute is considered to be one of the best in the industry. Many faculty members have previously taught in tier-1 US universities.
Facilities
There are many facilities that this campus provides its students. Some of them are:

Computing Facilities - The LAN setup integrates the campus into a single unit. The entire premises as well as the student hostels are Wi-Fi enabled.

HPC Lab - Two computational labs with networked multi-core desktop computers have been set up for teaching courses and for executing computational research projects.

Library - The library has a collection of 11,000 books including reference books and text books, and 165 print journals. Most of the research journals are now available through on-line resources.

Hostels - Accommodation facilities for all the undergraduate students are available on campus and in the housing complex across the street from the institute. There are two hostels for the boys—one inside the campus and the other hostel across the road in the building complexes. There is a separate girls' hostel within the campus for the undergraduate women students.

Sports - The institute has sports facilities that include a football field, cricket, volleyball and basketball courts. Students and staff participate in the Inter-IIT Sports Meet annually.
Placement
Around 90% students of the institutes get placed every year through the campuses. The highest package offered to any student is 10.2 lacs/annum. The various companies that have recruited students include consulting firms such as Flipkart, Fashion and You and public sector units such as BPCL and Bank of India. Core technical companies such as Tata Consultancy Engineers, Malaysia-based Finisar Malaysia, Ricoh Innovations, Hospira and Flytxt also recruit from this institute. Many research companies such as Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and Underwriters Laboratories have also picked up students through the institute’s campus placement process.
