IHM-A Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad

The Institute of Hotel Management, Aurangabad was established in 1989 and ranks among the premiere hotel management institutes of India. It is located in Aurangabad, Maharastra, and is a joint venture between Maulana Azad Educational Trust (MAET) and the Taj Group of Hotels. The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is a member of Leading Hotel Schools of the World (LHSW). On successful completion of the course, students are conferred with a degree by the University of Huddersfield, UK, which is equivalent to a degree in Hotel Management from any Indian University. More than 400 students study in the college.The college offers 2 undergraduate four-year BA (honours) programmes in Hotel Management and Culinary Arts. Admission to these courses is through an entrance exam conducted by the college itself. This is followed by a group discussion and a personal interview. Classes commence from July onwards.

Infrastructure
The college is well equipped with technology reflecting the latest trends in hotel management. It has basic and advanced training kitchens, a housekeeping laboratory which is the replica of a Taj hotel room, front office laboratory, computer laboratory and internet centre, state–of–the–art auditorium, conference centre and a world-class library ensure practical training in a professional hotel environment. Students also undergo training at the Taj Residency itself. The institute also provides varied facilities like AC classrooms equipped with projectors, computers and other audio-visual aids.
Hostels
The institute has separate hostel facilities for boys and girls housing nearly 400 students. The hostel recreation rooms serve as leisure zones where students unwind. The hostel serves more than 1500 meals a day in the dining hall where students manage the catering function. Students are responsible for the food production, budgeting and service under the expert supervision of the college’s F&B professionals.
Other Facilities
The institute has many state-of-the-art facilities including a 250-seater auditorium. It also includes the venue for the convocation ceremony, and the millennium gymnasium and fitness centre accessible to all students. The campus also has cricket, football and basketball fields as well as tennis, volleyball and badminton courts, which help ensure that the students remain active and energetic. The cafeteria on campus provides students with snacks as well as stationary and other items. Students and faculty members are often seen engaged in discussions here, as it is an ideal environment for a one-on-one interaction.
