Delhi College of Arts and Commerce

Delhi College of Arts and Commerce (DCAC), a premier institution of higher learning, is a constituent college of the Delhi University, financed partially (5 percent) by the Govt. of NCT, Delhi. It is a co-educational institution situated in prime location of Netaji Nagar, with various prominent residential societies and commercial ventures in its proximate neighbourhood. It is well connected by the Delhi Metro, the nearest stations being INA and AIIMS, as well as by road transport, through both bus routes as well as auto rickshaws/ e-rickshaws from the nearest Metro/ bus station. With the proposed Metro stations of Bhikaji Cama Place and R.K. Puram likely to be operational soon, commuting to college would further be eased.

Ranking
The college has been ranked 6th, 16th and 26th for Journalism, Commerce and Humanities respectively, in 2017, according to India Today’s poll on best colleges in India 2017. 
Infrastructure
The infrastructure of the college is not something which will evoke any strong feelings of approval and it can best be described as average. The campus contains most of the basic facilities. The library is air-conditioned and consists of the necessary books. The library has a reading room where students can study from their own material or from books issued by the library. The college provides Wi-Fi internet connectivity.
Faculty
The college faculty is fairly decent, and has many senior professors and a few junior ones. Lectures are generally conducted in English. The professors are strongly committed to teaching and do not hesitate to switch over to Hindi to solve tricky questions. Unsurprisingly, the faculty is strict about discipline and punctuality.
Placement
The Job placement cell of Delhi College of Arts and Commerce has been running successfully for the last six years. It serves as an interface between the students and the corporates. The placement cell starts its activities by organizing various workshops and seminars where knowledge regarding resume writing, handling interviews, group discussions, and written tests are imparted to the students. Our focus is always on inviting companies with varied profiles to suit the requirements of our students looking for jobs in finance, accounting, marketing, sales, computers, audit and research background. The academic year 2012-13 was exceptionally good for our placement cell as around 230 students from various streams were successfully placed with lots of national as well as multi-national organisations such as, Google, Capital IQ, KPMG, Ernst and Young, Royal Bank of Scotland, Cians Analytics, Protivity, Tata Consultancy Services, Genpact, IBM, India Infoline, Bharti Airtel, Eon Electric, Naukri.Com, 99 Acres.com, Aon Hewitt, Zomato.
Facilities
Auditorium :
The College has an auditorium that is always abuzz with activities. The auditorium plays host to inter college as well as intra college competitions, events, guest lectures, seminars, farewell and fresher celebrations.
Library :
The college library is housed on the second floor, above the classrooms. It strives to serve the needs of the faculty and the students. Besides a special section of books dedicated to journalism students, there is also a reading room with all the latest must-reads. The library is fully automated. Students are maintained. As per May 2007 the library has a collection of over 50,000 Books. National dailies and magazines are also available for reading.
Computer Lab :
The computer Lab houses about 70 Computers with internet facility round the clock. The lab operates during the college timings and helps students to design brochures, newspapers, magazines, posters etc. especially during festivals. The lab is always available for such use.
we have two separate Computer labs in the college which are already equipped with ICT. In addition to this a separate computer Lab has been set up for the faculty members. Further to this an IT enabled centre has also been established for the use of faculty and students for interactive lectures
Conference Hall :
The college has an conditioned conference hall which consists of a long conference table with seating arrangement for above 60 students. This hall often plays host to guest lectures by eminent media persons. Mock Press Conferences by the students are also held here, frequent documentary and film screening is also carried out.
Canteen :
The College canteen is open for students and staff during the college timings. Students spend their free time in between lectures in the canteen. Seating arrangement is also provided outside the canteen. Healthy and delicious food items are provided.
Girls Common Room :
A common room for girls is provided for the benefit of the female students of the college. This room is connected to the stage in the auditorium and functions as a backstage for girls during functions.
N.C.C Room :
A special room is dedicated for the benefit of N.C.C cadets, from where they can avail of sports and other equipment. Records of cadets etc. are maintained and kept in the N.C.C Room.
PRAKRITI
Prakriti secreened five documentaries including Inconvenient Truth focusing on negative impact of Global Warming. Each screening was followed by independent analysis of content resulting in interactive sessions. The young environmentalists of Prakriti also participated in youth meet held at Centre of Science and Environment.
FILM CLUB
Started in the 2008-2009 academic Session the DCAC Film Club not only aims to showcase the classics of Cinema but also intends to present the national and international work of repute in the field of audio-visual which repute in the field of audio-visual which does not find space in the conventional market. The Club aspires to generate debate on issue of concern raised by these work.
JOB PLACEMENT CELL OF DCAC
This year job placement cell entered its third year. Despite the overall recession at the national and the international levels and the decreasing job opportunities, we could manage to successfully place around sixty students belonging to different streams of the college in various companies such as Google, Ernst & Young, Barclays Shared Services, Genpact, IBM etc. Some of the very good companies which have been coming to our campus regularly in the past did not turn up this year because of their resource crunch. It was a great set back to us. But we hope next year will bring more job opportunities for our students. Our efforts to provide them with the best are going on.
