The one thing common in all these numbers: they all range from 90 to 100.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Such has been the scenario. 89 and people(you know who) start believing that a student has missed out on something.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, the reality cannot be farther away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I mean, I\u2019m not saying that marks don\u2019t carry any value. They surely do.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is just that they do not carry enough value.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And I cannot stress this enough.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> National Education Policy 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, is a clear testament to that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NEP is all set to introduce vocational courses into the mainstream education curriculum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pottery, painting, ethical hacking, electricals, you name it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, the big question is, if high scores were all that mattered, why this paradigm shift?\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, that\u2019s exactly what we are going to learn in this article today.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Academic Competition- 2021<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going back 5-10 years, a score of 90% carried great merit. Today, as our introduction states, a score of 90 carries overwhelming normalcy to it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The academic competition as understood in \u201cpopular opinion\u201d, isn\u2019t about where amongst the 90s, but how close to the perfect 100. We\u2019re talking about decimals here.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Amidst this flurry of high marks, the one obvious question that pops up is, &#8216;how do colleges choose their candidates&#8217;? It\u2019s almost like splitting strands of hair, isn\u2019t it?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, actually the inflation of marks has had colleges develop their selection criteria over time. And why not, a college is as good as its students, right?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And believe me, beyond a point these adaptations have rendered the credibility of high scores completely insignificant in an admission selection process.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a parent, to be able to guide your child in the right direction, you need to know this.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Admission Selection Process<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it comes to top colleges, think of scores as the pass to enter the college premises.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That\u2019s it. The role that \u201chigh scores\u201d play. The Real-Life Skills<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In total there are 5 elementary real-life skills that any confident individual should possess.
