However, in the last decade, there has been a noticeable progress with more and more women taking up engineering, especially computer science and technology, as their career path. Among the other developing countries, India is one of the states with relatively lower parity between male and female students and employees in the field of engineering.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400; font-size: 20px; color: #000000;\">Proving their potential and capabilities, women are conquering this sector as well. A computer science student from Indian Institute of Science, she is a chairperson of the Infosys Foundation and is also a part of public health care initiatives of the Gates Foundation. She is awarded as the Google India Women in Engineering award for her excellence in computer science by the global tech giant. The Haryana-born astronaut was the first Indian woman to go to space and create history. The Indian scientist and Engineer are currently working at the Space Applications Centre in Ahmedabad. She started her career as an engineer and has been a part of the Mars Orbiter Mission.
