However, post an invasion from Pakistan, the state signed an Instrument of Accession with Union of India.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>It was proposed that only &#8211;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Defense<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Foreign Affairs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Communications related provisions of the Indian constitution would apply to the State.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Article 370 permits the state to draft its own constitution and also restricts the Indian Parliament\u2019s legislative powers on the state.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>What is Article 35A?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Article 35A permits the local legislature in Indian-controlled Kashmir to define the permanent residents of the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It forbids Indians from outside the state from buying land, holding local government jobs or getting education scholarships or permanently settling in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>What is the status post revoking Article 370?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The revoking of Article 370 will <strong>&#8220;completely integrate&#8221;<\/strong> the state with the Indian Union and its residents will enjoy all the equal rights like other citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And with the abrogation of Article 370, Article 35A will automatically become void, thereby annulling the special status enjoyed by the residents over land, business, and employment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 24px;\"><strong>What\u2019s in it for Education?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The state of Education and schooling in the valley has seen tough times.
