It\u2019s projected statistically that by the year 2030, 1 out of 4 graduates from around the world will be from India. That only means there will be many Indian students in several universities. But, do you know how do Indian students choose their universities?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First of all, choosing a university<\/a> isn\u2019t the sole decision of a student. Parents, and to an extent family, play a very important role in the same. In over 45% of cases, it\u2019s the parents or family that take the final call on the colleges that a student can apply to.<\/strong> Secondly, peer influences also play a very big role in an Indian student’s college decision.<\/span>\"How<\/a><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s always intriguing to see how this plays out. Upon a thorough analysis of college choices of over 200,000 students, over the past 5 years, we\u2019ve identified that there are specific parameters that play diverse roles in making an informed decision about college admissions<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

These parameters have different weights- some are non-negotiable and some come into play when the location i.e. the country choice has to be made.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Admission criteria \u2013 <\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

The bare minimum expectations set by the university\/college to filter out the student pool no longer have the same importance as they used to 10 years ago. Students look at the previous year’s cutoffs and analyze their chances of getting shortlisted!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Courses and Subjects offered \u2013 <\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n

This is, of course, a non-negotiable factor, there has to be a course\/subject match-up between the students\u2019 aspirations and the courses that you offer.<\/span><\/span>\"career<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

3. Location \u2013<\/b> <\/span><\/h3>\n

In India, location is significant in many students\u2019 minds, either because they want to live in a certain part of the country, or because of financial constraints. It\u2019s interesting to note that, the choice of location is one of the major factors that cause Student-Parent conflicts in terms of college choices.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
